First-time visitors start here!
Most of this site should be self-explanatory. However, there are a few things you ought to know. First, check out the search engine, which allows you to create your own hat groupings if you don’t like mine. Second, if you come again—which I hope you will—the "What’s New" section has been designed as a kind of a log where you can see which changes have been made since your last visit and automatically view hats that have been added within the last 30 days. Last but not least, I'd like to stress that these hats are from my personal collection and are NOT for sale—although I may be open to an interesting trade and occasionally have duplicates.

A note about the programming
It may come as a surprise to those of you using the latest Pentium III processors and cable modems, but a large number of people still have to cope with older computers. Therefore, we’ve tried to create a site that still provides acceptable speed on very slow machines, though with fairly new browsers.

The need for speed is also also the reason you won’t see a lot of bandwidth-intensive graphics—which are usually pretty dumb to begin with. The few graphics that do appear are based on so-called "browser-safe colors," so the site should appear more or less the same in both Netscape and Explorer. The physical size of the layout has been kept fairly small so that those of you who still have 14" screens will only have to scroll in one direction.

This site has been made from 100% recycled electrons.
